In Tunisia, Organic agriculture has known an important development during the last decade. This is not surprising at all, since organic production in the international market knew an important and continuous growth, about 15% per year.
Today, more than 250 products are positioned in the main markets, including olive oil, dates, essential oils, prickly pear oil, etc. For this specific reason, the Tunisian government has set up an international promotion and communication program that aims to promote Tunisian organic products.
A partnership agreement has even been signed at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries. This program targets the US, Canadian, Chinese and Russian markets and includes many activities such as meetings between Tunisian exporters and importers and distributors of targeted markets, a communication plan on social and traditional media, Tunisian products tasting, etc.
A Facebook page and a Twitter account have even been created to communicate on these events and spread the word.
